Mind Professionals Expert Witness Service provides experts exclusively within health, psychology and social care across the UK.

We work with solicitors, insurers, local authorities and the courts to deliver CPR-compliant expert evidence, by sourcing, managing and supporting expert witnesses who deliver independent evidence.

Our role is to ensure that expert evidence is clear, impartial and robust, while maintaining a responsive and professional service throughout the life of a case.

We accept legally aided, privately funded and jointly instructed cases.

Who we work with

We support:

  • Solicitors and legal teams
  • Insurers and claims handlers
  • Local authorities
  • Courts and tribunals

Instructions must be made via a legal professional.

Areas of expertise

Rather than extensive lists, we organise our services into four core areas:

Psychiatric experts: including adult, child and adolescent, forensic and subspecialist psychiatry – providing medico-legal opinion in civil, family and criminal proceedings.

Psychological experts: providing psychological assessment and opinion across a range of legal contexts.

Medical and surgical experts: covering general medical and surgical expertise relevant to legal matters.

Social care, nursing and allied health experts: including social work, nursing and allied health professionals.

Types of cases supported

We commonly support cases involving:

  • Clinical negligence
  • Personal injury
  • Mental health and capacity
  • Immigration and asylum
  • Safeguarding and care standards
  • Regulatory and disciplinary matters

If you are unsure whether your case falls within our remit, we encourage you to contact us.

Our process

1. Initial enquiry: contact us by phone, email or enquiry form with your case outline.

2. Expert identification: we assess requirements and identify a suitable expert based on expertise and availability.

3. Instruction and support: once instructed, we support the expert throughout report preparation, conferences and court attendance.

We aim to respond promptly to all enquiries and discuss realistic timescales at the outset. Our approach is deliberately relationship-led, allowing for professional judgement and early clarification of case issues.
